1958 – I was a brainchild of Oskar J. Kambly, created at a time when salted cocktail biscuits and snacks were still unknown. The new technology developed by Oskar J. Kambly for producing light and crispy biscuits made it possible to realise his vision of a bite-sized snack. The idea of a fish-shaped snack biscuit came to him on the birthday of his wife, whose astrological sign was, appropriately, Pisces. And since the only quiet time in the entrepreneur’s busy day was when he was shaving in the morning, this was the very moment when I first entered his thoughts. Work started on my design that same day: a mould was produced and a first prototype baked. I was named “Goldfischli”, which is Swiss German for “Little Goldfish”. In no time at all I became a pioneering new product on the Swiss food market – a fun, bite-sized, fish-shaped, light and crispy, snack.
